Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh

Ahead of its time, misunderstood, a work of art.

Hi, I saw there was a post requesting the latest/greatest ATI driver, but none of the links seem to have worked.  Any chance someone could upload it to the site here?

Thanks!

Found the following on macintoshgarden.org:

January 2005 OS9 ATI update - installed this, but did not get Millions of colours, and made the system very unstable.

March 2002 Retail Driver - installed after tearing out the 2005 update, also ran into a lot of stability issues, but it may have been heat related (my office is quite warm).  This morning its been fine, and I'm getting the 'Millions of Colors' option.

I'm uploading the March 2002 ATI retail driver in case anyone else would like to try.

Here's the macintoshgarden link:

Hello I tried to install these drives and my TAM still does not have millions of color?  Could I be doing something wrong.  Any ideas that you have would be appreciated.  In addition, I do have in the PCI slot a ATI Radeon 7000 which works greats for watching DVDs on a separate screen, etc.  Could this be causing the problem?

You know, after doing a new clean install, these drivers did not give me the Millions of colors either.  I don't know why it worked one time and was not able to replicate.

Best bet is bagging the ATI January 2002 retail drivers - I still haven't been able to find it myself.

I have the drivers - try to download the ones I have attached.  I recommend downloading them on OS X and burning them to disk and using it in your TAM.  They work for me and I now have millions of color - to be honest with you I have trouble seeing the big difference between millions of color and thousands of color - however, I will assume the millions are working.  See the drivers I have attached the January 2002 driver is included.  I really think it the software has an issue with various version of ATI extensions in the system folder.

On your desktop create a folder called disabled extensions and I moved some of the ATI extensions into there restarted and then the millions of color worked.  You do lose 480 x 600 (whichever that resolution is) - but if your application can set that resolution the display will still work.  Applications such as Windows Media Player however, will not go into full screen, etc.  Give it a shot and I hope this makes sense.

Yes we must all thank Jack van Dalen - if it was not for his genius - we would not have this very hard to find file for the TAM.  Thank you once again!!!!!  I REALLY appreciate it.

Great !

So THANKS TO JACK !!!

(I transfered the old original files to the switched off (?) extensions to have the choice...)

Rudy, I finally had a moment to get the drivers installed, it worked perfectly.  Thanks!

Great I'm happy to hear that everything is working.  Once again we must thank Jack for finding this driver / direction to install it.  Hope everything with the TAM is working well.
